One of the main characters in Adventure Time, which showcases a lot of unique and fun characters, is a genderless jack-of-all-electronic-trade living video console, BMO. BMO is a loyal and helpful robot to the main protagonists, Finn and Jake.

The box contains 285 tiny bricks, dominated mostly by sand green bricks, to match BMO's teal or blue-green look.

To save us some time, the build instruction printed the brick inventory. There are a few extra bricks, specially the tiniest ones - 1 x 1.

The dimensions of the nanoblock are, of course, smaller than the standard brick. But, did you notice the brand print in the nanoblock? It's from LOZ - a nanoblock maker.

 

BMO nanoblock figure is a difficult build, only because the bricks are tiny, but the experience is quite enjoyable.

Verdict.

Print Quality - not applicable

Parts - Nanoblocks are notoriously small. It can be quite difficult for adults. Big hands! While you tend to slip the bricks as you build the figure, it is quite an enjoyable experience.

Articulation - not applicable

Material - Snaps quite well. The ABS material is as durable as the standard bricks.

Affordability - Astoundingly cheap. Costs around $3.

Design - Nanoblocks are made to be displayed, hence articulation is not expected. The design is faithful to the original character design, but can include other brick parts to add a bit of smoothness and uniqueness to the design.

Brick Essentials 2 - Lightbox

Brick collecting hobby is never complete without sharing your customized creations, hauls, and reviews in the online communities. This requires photography and editing effort. To make the details  of each set or figure stand out or noticeable, a clear image has to be produced. After all, we deal with small items.

One of the greatest photography implements - a lightbox! This thing allows light to diffuse consistently in a cube environment without projecting shadows from the subject (I like shadows in taking snaps though!) This also allows the light to bounce off the environment to better highlight a scene or the subject. What is good about it (especially for small items) is that it does not have to be expensive. You can turn a cardboard box into a makeshift lightbox and use whatever diffuser is available e.g. thin cloth, onion paper, paper towels.

I have been using a rice cooker cardboard box with punched sides where paper diffusers are attached. I use LED lamps both sides when I have a sudden urge to take photos of the little bricks.

A eureka moment came to me one night while lifting a perfectly-prepared round cheesecake (a blueberry one!) out of a 5 x 5 x 5 box. The insides of the box are white and the paper is not waxy. I propped a fig in the box and flashed the LED. I now have a cheap and light lightbox to wear out until I get bored of it - how portable the box is as I can just fold and unfold it. Funny how this sounds but it is effective for me.

Brick Essentials 1 - Section Case

One of the most important element in sorting and protecting every brick collector's toys - storage!

There are several plastic boxes, mostly clear, sold in the market. They vary in sizes and features, but what I love most are the section cases from a Japanese franchise of general merchandise, known locally for its cheap fixed retail price.

Each partition comes with a detachable plate to suit whatever size you need for sections. The middle section is one long storage which you can customized by placing crafted section plates, even by using cardboards.

Each case has 12 small sections, which fit one assembled minifigure or 3 disassembled minifigure.

This is a must have! ;)
